Among the many instruments for measuring the level of liquids or solids, radar level gauges are popular for their high-precision, non-contact measurement. 

However, to ensure the accuracy and stability of the radar level gauge, correct installation is crucial. Among them, the flange, as a key component of the connecting pipeline system, bears the important task of firmly fixing the radar level gauge to the storage tank or pipeline. 

This article will explain in detail how to correctly install the flange to fix the radar level gauge to ensure accurate and reliable measurement results.

First, let’s understand what a flange is. Simply put, a flange is a circular metal piece used to connect pipes. There are usually a number of bolt holes around it. The matching bolts and nuts can achieve a tight connection between pipes and pipes, and between pipes and instruments. 

In the application of radar level gauges, the flange is both a support and a connecting medium, and its stability is directly related to the normal operation of the measuring equipment. Before proceeding with the flange fixing step, sufficient preparations must be made. 

This includes determining the specifications and dimensions of the required flange, selecting the appropriate radar level gauge model, and preparing necessary tools such as wrenches, bolts, and gaskets. Generally speaking, the diameter of the flange should match the diameter of the radar level gauge interface and be adapted to the pressure level of the pipeline. Next is the installation process. The first step is to connect the radar level gauge to the matching flange. 

During this process, it is important to note that the bolt holes on the flange plate should be aligned with the openings of the liquid level gauge to ensure that the fixing bolts can be installed correctly later. Then, place the selected sealing gasket between the flange and the level gauge to ensure a tight seal at the connection.

Next, use bolts and nuts to tightly connect the radar level gauge to the flange. In this step, attention needs to be paid to tightening each bolt in a cross-step manner to ensure even distribution of force and to prevent poor sealing performance or damage to the equipment due to uneven force. 

In addition, the tightening torque of the bolts must be controlled in accordance with the manufacturer’s instruction manual. 

If it is too loose, it may cause leakage, and if it is too tight, the sealing gasket may be crushed or the threads may be damaged. After the flange is fixed, the installed radar level gauge needs to be inspected. 

The inspection includes confirming whether all bolts have been tightened correctly, whether the sealing gasket is damaged, whether the liquid level gauge is vertical, etc. If necessary, appropriate adjustments can be made to ensure that its verticality and stability meet the requirements.

Finally, after the installation is complete, it needs to be tested. Inject an appropriate amount of medium into the storage tank or pipeline, and observe whether the radar level gauge can accurately reflect the change in liquid level. 

At the same time, check whether there are leak points and confirm the stability and sealing of the entire system. The correct installation of the flange is essential for the stable operation and accurate measurement of the radar level gauge. 

By carefully selecting the flange, strictly following the installation steps, and meticulous inspection and debugging, we can ensure that the radar level meter can perform its best performance in its position and provide strong technical support for various liquid level monitoring.
