It is worth noting that when the flow rate through the flow meter is constant, the rotation speed of the oval gear changes in a circle, but the average angular velocity per week is unchanged.
When the ratio of the minor axis to the major axis of the elliptical gear is 0.5, the pulsation rate of the rotational angular velocity is 0.65. Due to the pulsation of angular velocity, measuring the instantaneous speed does not indicate the instantaneous flow, but can only measure the average speed of an integer circle to determine the average flow.
The extension shaft of the oval gear flowmeter is generally equipped with a mechanical counter, and the total flow rate of the flowmeter can be determined from its reading. This kind of flowmeter works with a stopwatch to measure the average flow rate. However, due to the large human error in the stopwatch measurement, the measurement accuracy is low.
