A few tidbits of knowledge in the principle of radar level meters

Before the advent of electronics, the main level detection methods were based on mechanical mechanics.

The development of microelectronics has greatly facilitated the development of sensing technology and as a result, many new level detection methods and instruments have been created. Among these instruments, the radar level meter is based on the time travel method.

Therefore, it is necessary to get to know a few small points in the principle of the radar level meter.

Radar level meters perform level measurement by transmitting and receiving microwave pulses. From this point of view, the radar level meter has two main devices (components), namely the transmitter and the receiver.

The transmitter emits microwave pulses, which are transmitted downwards by the antenna. The microwaves come into contact with the liquid interface, reflections occur, and the reflected microwaves are transmitted by the antenna and eventually captured by the receiver.

In fact, in addition to these two main devices, the equipment of the radar level meter also has a transmitting antenna, a receiving antenna, a processing section, a display, and so on.

After talking about the equipment of the radar level meter, it is worthwhile to recognize a few elements that affect the measurement effect of the radar level meter.

To recognize these elements, one must first know several formulas related to radar level meters.

The radar level meter level measurement formula: L (level) = E – C (speed of light) x T/2. In this formula, there is a very important factor, namely the speed of light.

The speed of light is not affected by atmospheric environmental factors, so the speed of electromagnetic wave propagation in the air is not affected by the frequency of the electromagnetic wave, the temperature, or the atmospheric pressure. The speed of light formula: speed of light = frequency x wavelength, microwaves have different frequencies and different wavelengths. Antenna gain formula that the antenna in a particular direction of radiation in the stereo angle of the energy and the antenna in all directions of radiation in the stereo angle of the ratio of energy.

From these formulas, it can be seen that the radar level meter measurement effect how has a direct relationship with the gain of the antenna, and the antenna gain and frequency have a close connection.

Under certain other conditions, the higher the frequency of the radar level meter compared with the low-frequency radar level meter, the higher the frequency, the greater the antenna gain, and the more concentrated the energy.
