Hydrochloric acid is an aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride, which is widely used in industry. Hydrochloric acid is a colorless and transparent liquid with a strong irritating odor and is highly corrosive. Concentrated hydrochloric acid is extremely volatile, so when a container with concentrated hydrochloric acid is opened, hydrogen chloride will volatilize and combine with water vapor in the air to produce small droplets of hydrochloric acid, and the acid appears above the mouth of the bottle. 

Hydrochloric acid is a colorless liquid, industrial hydrochloric acid will be slightly yellow due to impurities in iron salts, an aqueous solution of hydrogen chloride, and has a pungent odor. Due to the volatility of concentrated hydrochloric acid, the volatile hydrogen chloride gas reacts with water vapor in the air to form small droplets of hydrochloric acid, so a white mist appears. Hydrochloric acid is easily miscible with water and ethanol, hydrogen chloride is soluble in many organic solvents, and concentrated hydrochloric acid dilutes exothermically.
