The case of guided wave radar level meter measuring condensate

Guided-wave radar level meter in the field of measuring oil, has been a very stable play, we have also written about the case of guided-wave radar level meter measuring oil, and today still want to share a case about oil, only not ordinary oil but condensate. Let’s explore together, the guided wave radar level meter measuring condensate in the process of what problems, and the corresponding solutions are which?

Guided wave radar emits a high-frequency microwave pulse along the detection component (steel cable or steel rod) propagation, encountering the measured medium, due to the sudden change in dielectric constant, causing reflection, part of the pulse energy is reflected back.

The time interval between the emitted pulse and the reflected pulse is proportional to the distance of the measured medium. It adopts pulse working mode, the emission power is extremely low, and can be installed in various metal and non-metal containers, which is harmless to the human body and environment, and can be applied to various complex working conditions.

In addition, you may not know what condensate is, condensate is the liquid phase component condensed from condensate gas field or oil field associated gas, also known as natural gasoline. Its main component is a mixture of C5 to C11+ hydrocarbons, containing a small number of hydrocarbons greater than C8 and impurities such as sulfur dioxide, thiophene, mercaptan, sulfide, polysulfide, etc. Its fraction is mostly 20℃-200℃. Condensate is characterized by its existence in the form of a gas phase underground and a liquid state when recovered to the surface.

Condensate is liquid oil when it reaches the surface, but is a gas in the ground, called condensate gas. Condensate is a mixture of oil dissolved in natural gas under high temperature and pressure conditions. Condensate reservoirs are located in rocks thousands of meters deep underground, and the main products developed are condensate and natural gas.

A company in Jilin installed a batch of our guided wave radar level meter, model RD701, to measure condensate, the customer responded that there were three echo signals in front of the interference signal, and the measurement results had errors. Our after-sales engineers went to the site to check and found that it was due to the interference of the installation over the pipe and the signal at the bottom of the tank was too big, so it led to the inaccurate setting of the radar range and the measurement error.

So our after-sales engineer gave a solution after analysis and judgment, that is to wrap the front signal, reduce the false signal at the bottom of the tank, and debug the range setting from new so that the problem was completely solved, and the guided wave radar level meter resumed normal measurement.
