Target flow meter selection guide - Just Measure it

Target flow meter selection guide

Choosing the right target flowmeter can grant you the best usage of the flow meter instrument. What type of flow meter should you choose based on the chemical and physical properties of the fluid medium to be measured?

The mode of output, flow range, and the target flowmeter diameter can be adapted to the fluid nature under measurement and the flowmeter measurement requirements.

Inspection of the precise function

Function and accuracy grade: here you choose the device accuracy grade basing on the occasional use and measurement requirements.

For instance, for product handover, energy metering, and trade settlement, ensure you select a high accuracy level like 1.0, 0.5, or even higher.

On occasions for process control, select a different level of accuracy as per the control requirements. The only requirement is to check the flow process and does not require precise measurement and control.

However, you can decide to choose a lower accuracy level, 1.5, 2.5, and 4.0. Under such cases, you can select an inexpensive plug-in target flow meter.

Measurable medium

Measuring caliber, flow rate, and instrument range. While calculating the general medium, select a full-scale flow of the target flowmeter within the stipulated range of in measuring the average flow rate, and the pace is relatively wide.

The caliber of the chosen instrument is not similar to that of the processing pipeline.

You should identify if the measurement flow range lies in the flow rate range; this means when the flow rate is low to meet the flow meter requirements.

It is essential to reduce the meter diameter when the measurement’s accuracy is not guaranteed to increase the pipe’s velocity flow.

This meter diameter will not only give you the correct measurements but also guarantee you satisfactory measurement results.
