Several factors to consider for level measurement in slurry tanks

Slurry tank level measurement previously used differential pressure type and magnetic flap-type level meter, the result is inaccurate measurement and difficult maintenance problems. As a result, many companies have started to introduce radar level meters. Is this type of level meter suitable for slurry tank level measurement or not? Normally, the slurry tank is measured by the medium of calcium carbonate precipitate slurry and calcium hydroxide lime milk slurry. Both media are mixtures of liquids and solids, which are characterized by a certain viscosity and are often accompanied by stirring devices in the tank.

From the analysis of these basic working conditions, the radar level meter can be used for slurry tank measurements. Because the radar level meter uses contactless level measurement, viscous substances have little influence on the measurement. The radar level meter is relatively concentrated in energy and effectively avoids obstacles while suppressing interference. Radar level meters are virtually unaffected by water vapor and slight foam.

However, although radar level meters are suitable for slurry tank measurements, there are several issues that we should be aware of during installation and use.

Firstly, when the radar level meter is installed, it should be fixed so as not to affect the level meter measurement after the stirring device is started and inaccurate measurement will occur.

Secondly, pay attention to the false level caused by the rotation of the stirring device. To circumvent this problem, the fundamental solution is to find a suitable installation method. If it cannot be avoided, the false echoes can be filtered out through the filter module.

Thirdly, regular maintenance of the radar level meter. During the production process, foam and vortices may be generated in the tank, and over time, the antenna will inevitably be attached. Therefore, it is essential to carry out regular maintenance on the radar level meter.

For slurry tank level measurement, a radar level meter is suitable, but the type of radar level meter used needs to be selected according to the actual plant situation, the right type of antenna, the right connection method, and the right power supply method, and even the right housing material. Only when these are clearly considered and selected appropriately can the radar level meter play its best role, the measurement can be accurate and the user can be long-lasting.
