The main tank is very different from other tanks. During operation, the tank level fluctuates considerably due to pump start-up, which leads to the generation of foam.
The interference signal from the foam, as well as the interference signal caused by noise, can easily produce false levels and nearly affect the measurement of the radar level meter. It is important to pay attention to this aspect when selecting and installing radar level meters.
In addition, the dielectric constant of the medium in the main tank is relatively low, around 5 or less. We all know that the higher the dielectric constant, the stronger the reflected signal of the radar level meter, and vice versa, the weaker it is. So for media with a relatively small dielectric constant, you can choose a guided wave radar level meter.
Guided wave radar level meter is a contact measurement method, the radar wave is emitted mainly through the detection component propagation, propagation path only, and energy concentration, more suitable for the dielectric constant of small liquid level measurement.
The choice of radar level meter needs attention from the above two aspects, and when installing the radar level meter, attention should also be drawn from several aspects.
Firstly, the radar level meter should be installed on the main tank away from the exhaust fan, return pipe, and oil pump to reduce the impact of interfering signals on the radar level meter.
Secondly, after the radar level meter is installed, the original height is measured based on other measurement methods so that the original height of the radar level meter can be reset, only in this way can the radar level meter maintain its accuracy.
In thermal power plants, level measuring instruments are required for the main tank and also for other tanks. But the choice of instrument and how to install it requires years of experience and consultation with the relevant personnel to make the most correct decision.
