Reasons for unstable output signal of vortex flowmeter and correct installation requirements

The unstable output signal of the vortex flowmeter may be due to the following reasons:

1. Changes in the mass or pressure of the fluid: This may cause deviations in the measurement results of the flow meter.

2. Improper installation position: As mentioned above, if there is not a long enough straight pipe section or the fluid flow is unstable on the upstream and downstream sides of the installation, the readings may be affected.

3. Environmental factors: Changes such as temperature, humidity and electromagnetic interference may affect the stability of the vortex flowmeter.

4. Internal mechanical problems: The mechanical parts of the vortex flowmeter, such as sensors, and other equipment are defective or damaged, which may cause its output signal to be unstable.

Correct installation requirements for vortex flow meters:

1. Ensure that there is enough straight pipe section at the installation location. Usually, a 10-15D (D refers to the pipe diameter) straight pipe section is required upstream of the vortex flowmeter, and a 5D straight pipe section is required downstream.

2. The flow meter should be installed in the vertical direction of the fluid direction, and the center of the local resistance element should be in the horizontal direction and at the center of the conduit axis; when installed horizontally, the rotating shaft of the turbine should be placed horizontally.

3. Avoid installing and using the vortex flowmeter in an environment with strong vibration.

4. Reasonably select the specifications and models of the vortex flowmeter to meet the flow range, fluid properties, installation method, pressure level, explosion-proof requirements and other conditions.

Every time you install equipment, you must strictly follow the equipment’s technical specifications and instructions.
