Acetic acid storage tanks are common in the chemical industry for storing liquid acetic acid. In order to ensure the safety and efficiency of the production process, it is critical to accurately measure the level of the acetic acid storage tank. However, due to the special nature of acetic acid, the level measurement faces some challenges. This paper will introduce the measurement difficulties of acetic acid storage tanks and illustrate how to solve these problems with measurement cases.
As an organic solvent, acetic acid has the following characteristics. Acetic acid is highly corrosive and can cause damage to the materials and components of conventional-level measurement devices, affecting the accuracy of measurement and the service life of the equipment.
Volatility, acetic acid has a high volatility, when using direct contact measurement methods, it will lead to the evaporation of acetic acid and pollution, affecting the accuracy of the measurement.
High viscosity, acetic acid is a high-viscosity liquid, conventional level measurement methods, such as float measurement, pressure measurement, etc., often cannot adapt to the measurement needs of high-viscosity liquids.
An acetic acid storage tank in a chemical plant needed a reliable level measurement solution due to the inaccuracy of level measurement and problems with traditional methods. A radar level meter is a high-precision instrument that uses microwave signals for level measurement.
Compared with traditional level measurement methods, the radar level meter has the following advantages in acetic acid storage tanks: Corrosion resistance: the antenna and sensor of the radar level meter are usually made of corrosion-resistant materials, which can operate stably in the corrosive environment of acetic acid for a long time.
Non-contact measurement: radar level meter does not need to contact acetic acid directly and uses a microwave signal for measurement, which avoids measurement errors caused by volatilization and evaporation.
High accuracy measurement: The radar level meter has good measurement accuracy, which can provide accurate and reliable level measurement results under the high viscosity conditions of acetic acid.
After determining the radar level meter as a solution, the best radar level meter installation location needs to be selected based on the tank parameters and requirements.
Considering the corrosive nature of acetic acid, we ensure that the contact parts of the device with the liquid are made of corrosion-resistant materials. Installation and connection: Install and connect the radar level meter according to the guidelines of the installation manual.
We ensured the correct installation of the device and related accessories as well as a good connection of the sensors and cables. After the installation was completed, we performed calibration and testing of the equipment.
The calibration operation ensured that the radar level meter was able to accurately measure the acetic acid level. To ensure the safety of the production process, an alarm function was set up on the radar level meter.
Once the level exceeds the preset range, the device will trigger an alarm signal to alert the operator to take appropriate measures.
By using the radar level meter to measure the acetic acid storage tank, the level measurement problem can be successfully solved and the efficiency and safety of the production process can be improved.
