Radar Level Meter Measures Dewatering Tower Levels

Dewatering tower, as an important equipment in petrochemical industry, has very special features and functions. It is mainly characterized by high tower, large diameter and large capacity, which can handle a large amount of liquid, and at the same time separate the water in the liquid by vapor-liquid separation. 

In the dewatering tower, the measurement and control of liquid level is very important, because too high or too low liquid level in the dewatering tower will affect its normal work, and even lead to equipment damage and safety accidents. Therefore, the methods and techniques for measuring the liquid level in the dewatering tower are particularly important.

Among the methods for measuring the liquid level in the dewatering tower, radar level meter is a commonly used non-contact measuring instrument. It adopts radar wave to measure the liquid level, which has the advantages of high precision, good reliability and wide measuring range.

The following combines a practical case to illustrate the application of radar level meter in dewatering tower level measurement. A petrochemical company’s crude oil dehydration tower height of 40 meters, diameter of 10 meters, capacity of 400 cubic meters. The dehydration tower is mainly used to separate the water in the crude oil, but also to deal with a large number of other liquids. 

In order to accurately measure the liquid level of the dewatering tower, the company used radar level meters for measurement. When installing the radar level meter, considering the high temperature and high pressure of the dewatering tower, the radar level meter with the characteristics of high temperature, high pressure and corrosion resistance was selected and installed on the top of the dewatering tower. 

In the measurement process, the radar level meter measures the liquid level by transmitting high-frequency electromagnetic waves and transmits the measurement results to the control system in real time. The control system carries out automatic control and adjustment according to the height of the liquid level and other parameters to ensure the normal operation of the dewatering tower. During operation, the radar level meter shows very high stability and reliability. 

Even in high temperature, high pressure, corrosion and other harsh environments, the radar level meter is still able to accurately measure the liquid level of the dewatering tower. At the same time, as the radar level meter adopts non-contact measurement, it avoids the problems of wear and clogging that may be brought by the traditional contact measurement method, and reduces the maintenance cost and maintenance workload.

Through the application of a radar level meter, the dewatering tower of this petrochemical enterprise has been effectively controlled and managed to ensure the normal operation and safe production of the dewatering tower. At the same time, the radar level meter’s characteristics of high precision and high reliability have also been fully realized.
