High frequency radar level meter measurement value fluctuation causes and solutions

High-frequency radar level meter measurement will often encounter fluctuations in the measured value or even jump dead value, some users who encounter this situation will have anxiety, and even think that the instrument has problems. 

In fact, this situation is quite normal, and even precise instruments are inevitably in the measurement of problems, because improper installation or other working conditions may lead to this problem. Today I have prepared three cases to analyze the causes of fluctuations in measurement values and different solutions with you.

The first case is a company in Shandong installed with our high-frequency radar level meter, model RD904, used to measure stone powder, according to the customer’s response in and out of the material fluctuations, the site signal line, and 220V electric together, there is electromagnetic interference.

 According to this situation, our after-sales engineer went to the site to check and judge that the reason for this problem is that the site radar is installed next to the inlet, while the inlet is in the middle, and the result of doing so leads to the radar having interference, which leads to the above problem. 

The solution given by the after-sales engineer was to replace the installation position of the radar level meter, and the problem was solved after the replacement.

The second case is a company in Anhui province, purchasing and installing our high-frequency radar level meter, model RD905, used to measure ore phosphate powder, the customer responded that the radar level meter had fluctuations and jumped dead value. Through the after-sales engineer to the scene of the inspection found that the site of the high-voltage line and radar level meter power supply line to go in a line groove, such a practice will lead to the radar by electromagnetic interference is very serious, the baseline is very high. For this kind of problem, first of all, we have to do false echo editing, don’t jump full range, and in addition, we have to replace the line, in order to get a complete solution.

The third case is a company in Guangxi, which installed and used our radar level meter, model RD902, to measure the floating roof in the oil storage tank. The customer responded that the measured value of the radar level meter fluctuates and has a small range of jump, after checking the after-sales engineer found that the reason for this problem is that the signal of measuring the floating roof is large, the signal is wide and fluctuates back and forth at the two peaks.

 To solve this solution, you need to replace the movement with a small signal, so that its wave crests have only one tip, and increase the damping time so that the radar response slows down so that the above problem does not exist.

The three cases shared here are all using our high-frequency radar level meter 90X series, measuring different working conditions, with similar problems, but the causes and solutions of the problems are different. It can also be found that unreasonable installation, unreasonable power supply line, and signal interference can cause fluctuations in measurement values, and the specific solutions also depend on the specific circumstances of the site. The radar level meter is a very precise instrument, so we should pay more attention to detail so that it can play its maximum advantage.
