Electromagnetic flow meter how it works - Just Measure it

Electromagnetic flow meter how it works

The electromagnetic flowmeter is responsible for fluid flow. The way this transducer works is by measuring the liquid as it passes over a magnetic field.

This principle is referred to as electromagnetic induction. The meter is made of a transmitter that works with a sensor.

Together the goal of these two is to measure how the liquid flows. A conducting fluid is vital to a flow meter. This fluid could even be water.

The fluid will move through a pipe. The sensor will stimulate a voltage.

This voltage turns into a flow. There are many reasons and advantages that make these electromagnetic flow meters popular.

These meters are very functional, do not block any obstruction, are usually affordable, and offer flow measurement that is accurate. The electromagnetic flowmeter is typically used in wastewater environments.

The electromagnetic flowmeter is based on Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction.

The electromagnetic flowmeter working principle basically states when a medium, typically a liquid, passes over a magnetic field a voltage will be ignited. Coils are in the meter.

These coils create the magnetic field. It is important for the liquid to be conductive in order for the induction to occur.

Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction mathematically works when there is a conductive liquid present.

As mentioned, the liquid must be conductive. This electromagnetic flow principle works accurately but does have its limitations when the formula is not followed correctly. Some of these limitations include how you can only use these meters for fluids.

In addition, some meters are not particularly small or cost-effective when compared to larger meters.

A positive trait of these electromagnetic flow meters is how they are not affected by density, temperature, or pressure.

These meters are most commonly used in commercial spaces but can be handy tools for personal use.
