Checklist and Installation Guidelines for Pressure Instruments

1. Installation Requirements

  • Vertical Mounting: Vibration-resistant pressure gauges must be installed in a vertical orientation.

  • Support Height: For pressure or differential pressure transmitters, the mounting pillar should be 1.2 meters tall.

  • Capillary Tubes: Capillaries should be bundled along the cable conduit using cable ties. At the transmitter side, excess tubing should be coiled and secured to the mounting bracket.

  • Display Orientation: The transmitter display must be positioned for convenient viewing and maintenance access.

  • Explosion-Proof Cable Glands: Check that explosion-proof glands are properly installed and tightened. Stainless steel plugs should be mounted on the opposite side of the gland.

  • Flange Bolts: Bolt ends must extend 5–10 mm beyond the nut face.

  • Flange Protection: Ensure flange protective covers are removed before installation.

  • Tapping Location: When both pressure and temperature sensors are mounted on the same pipe, pressure taps must be upstream.

2. Wiring and Connection Standards

  • Cable Termination: Wiring should be neat and standardized. Cable ends must be properly terminated with pre-insulated terminals.

  • Shielding & Grounding: The shielding layer must not be exposed unnecessarily and should be grounded as per EMC guidelines.

  • Screw Tightness: Ensure all screws are tightened and terminals are secure, avoiding any loose connections.

3. Safety & Accessibility

  • Serviceability: Instruments should be installed in locations that facilitate easy maintenance and inspection.

  • Environmental Suitability: Materials such as aluminum or stainless steel housings should be selected based on environmental corrosion conditions.
