Case study of radar level instrumentation for water measurement

The radar level meter adopts the measurement method of microwave pulse, which can work normally in the industrial frequency band of low beam energy, it is the non-contact continuous measurement, suitable for dust, temperature, pressure changes, the presence of inert gas, steam, and also has the characteristics of not affected by the specific gravity of the medium, not affected by the change of dielectric constant.

In addition, this instrument is harmless to the human body and environment, easy to maintain, and long service life. Based on these advantages, some water conservancy industries or together with the need to measure water enterprises will choose radar level meters to measure, the following we will look at the actual case.

The first case is a company in Beijing that installed our radar level meter, model RD902T (with accompanying heat), used to measure sewage, normal temperature, and pressure. Our technical personnel went to the site to check and found that there were two pieces of iron on the installation frame, which caused the second wave to be too strong, thus producing the jumping situation. The solution was to remove the iron, the secondary wave was much smaller, and the jumping situation did not occur again.

The second case is a company in Jiangsu that installed our radar water level meter, model RD908F, used to measure the cooling tower water, the customer responded that the meter appeared jumping and fluctuating, through our staff checked found that the site water flow is too large, thus causing the radar no signal output, and finally produced the jumping and fluctuating situation. The solution was to add a rain cover to the radar water level meter to isolate the cooling tower water from the radar, which solved the problem very effectively.

The above two cases have sewage, cooling tower water, and pools, using the instrument model is also completely different, but the problem is jumping fluctuations of this problem, of course, according to the different working conditions, the causes of the problem and the solution is different. 

In fact, the means to solve the problem of radar level meter can be said to be similar, but can also be said to be very different, in short, remember a principle, specific analysis of specific problems, in order to get twice the result with half the effort!
