Exporting Electromagnetic Flow Meters to Moldova - Just Measure it

Exporting Electromagnetic Flow Meters to Moldova

Overview: In this case study, we examine the successful export of electromagnetic flow meters by Zero Instrument Corporation to Moldova. This export was facilitated through a contract signed with the local distributor, to meet the increasing demand for accurate water flow measurement in Moldova’s agricultural and industrial sectors. The project required flow meters capable of handling a wide range of liquid measurements, including wastewater.

Project Background: Moldova is a country with a growing need for advanced water management technologies, particularly in agriculture and industry. Accurate measurement of water flow is critical for optimizing irrigation systems, monitoring water usage, and managing wastewater disposal. The Moldovan client required flow meters with high accuracy, durability, and integration capabilities to improve water management efficiency across various sites.

Products Supplied: Zero Instrument Corporation provided the following model for this project:

  1. Z100E-LDG-25S Electromagnetic Flow Meter (DN25)

This model was selected due to its compatibility with the specific flow ranges required for the application and its robust performance in challenging environments, such as wastewater measurement.

Technical Specifications:

  1. Measurement Medium: The flow meter was primarily used for measuring clean water and wastewater, providing flexibility for different applications.
  2. Accuracy: 0.5% grade, ensuring high precision for both industrial and agricultural water management.
  3. Flow Range: The Z100E-LDG-25S model has a flow range suitable for DN25 pipe diameters, with flow rates typically ranging between 0.5-10 m³/h, making it ideal for small to medium-scale operations
  4. Electrode Material: 316L Stainless Steel, chosen for its corrosion resistance in water and wastewater applications.
  5. Power Supply: AC 220V, aligning with the local power supply in Moldova.
  6. Liner Material: PTFE, known for its durability and resistance to chemicals found in wastewater.
  7. Signal Output: 4-20mA output, enabling seamless integration with the existing monitoring systems used by the client.
  8. Communication Protocol: MODBUS RTU over RS485, providing real-time monitoring and data transfer

Challenges Addressed:

  1. Fluctuating Flow Rates: The client’s operations involved both low and high flow rates, necessitating a flow meter capable of maintaining accuracy across a wide range. The LDG-25S was chosen for its ability to measure flow rates from 0.5 m³/h to 10 m³/h, ensuring reliability regardless of the volume.

  2. Harsh Environmental Conditions: Moldova’s industrial and agricultural environments can be harsh, with varying temperatures and potentially corrosive substances. The 316L stainless steel electrodes and PTFE liner were selected to withstand these conditions without compromising accuracy or durability.

  3. Integration with Existing Systems: The MODBUS RTU communication protocol allowed for easy integration with the client’s existing infrastructure. This reduced the installation time and ensured that the flow meters could quickly be brought online for data monitoring and analysis.

Installation and Operation: The electromagnetic flow meters were installed at various industrial and agricultural sites across Moldova. The installation process followed the standard guidelines provided by Zero Instrument Corporation, including ensuring straight piping for accurate measurements and proper grounding to avoid electrical interference. The Z100E-LDG-25S models were calibrated and tested before shipment to ensure accuracy upon installation.

Client Feedback: The Moldovan client expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Z100E-LDG-25S electromagnetic flow meters. They reported significant improvements in water usage monitoring and more efficient management of irrigation systems.

The ability to monitor both clean water and wastewater with a single device reduced the need for multiple types of flow meters, saving both time and costs. Additionally, the accurate data provided by the MODBUS RTU communication protocol helped in real-time decision-making.

Conclusion: This case study demonstrates Zero Instrument Corporation’s ability to meet the specific water management needs of Moldova’s industrial and agricultural sectors.

By providing the Z100E-LDG-25S electromagnetic flow meters, Zero Instrument enabled the client to achieve higher accuracy in water flow measurement, improved system integration, and long-term operational efficiency.

This project has paved the way for future collaborations in Moldova, reinforcing the importance of precision technology in water management.
