Application and analysis of radar level meter in measurement of broken glass silo

When dealing with materials with special physical properties such as cullet, it is necessary to choose the right measurement technology. 

This article will discuss the application of radar level meter in cullet silo and analyze it with actual cases.

Broken glass silos are often used to store recycled glass fragments, which come in various sizes and shapes. 

Due to the irregularity and surface reflectivity of broken glass, traditional level measurement methods such as ultrasound or laser may be disturbed, resulting in inaccurate measurements. 

Therefore, it is key to choose a measurement technology that can adapt to this complex environment. 

Radar level meters measure material levels by emitting microwave signals and receiving their reflected waves. When microwaves encounter the surface of the material, an echo is generated, and the radar level meter determines the material level by calculating the time difference between emission and reception. 

Due to its high operating frequency, radar level meters are able to penetrate dust and steam and are suitable for harsh industrial environments.

In order to improve the efficiency and accuracy of material management in a cullet recycling plant, it was decided to use a radar level meter to monitor the cullet silo in real time. The silo has a diameter of 10 meters and a height of 20 meters, and stores cullet pieces of different sizes. 

During the implementation process, the radar level meter was first installed to ensure that its antenna part can cover the entire cross-section of the silo. 

It was then calibrated to adapt to the special reflection characteristics of cullet. After several weeks of continuous operation, the data showed that the radar level meter can stably provide accurate material level information, and can maintain high-precision measurement even when the material surface is uneven or dust is generated. 

Through practical application, we found that the radar level meter has the following advantages in measuring cullet silos: 

1. Non-contact measurement, reducing maintenance costs and equipment loss. 

2. High adaptability, able to work stably in dusty and steamy environments. 

3. High accuracy, providing reliable data even when the material surface is irregular. 

4. Easy to install and calibrate, reducing the difficulty of operation.

Radar level meter has shown significant advantages in the measurement of broken glass silos. It not only improves the accuracy and reliability of measurement, but also reduces maintenance costs and improves overall production efficiency. 

Therefore, for special materials such as broken glass, radar level meter is an ideal measurement solution.
