Application analysis of radar level meter in ethanol production reaction tank

As an important chemical raw material and clean energy, ethanol production requires extremely high material monitoring accuracy, especially level measurement in the reaction tank. Radar level meters are increasingly used in ethanol production reaction tanks due to their non-contact measurement, high precision and strong adaptability.

Ethanol production involves multiple complex chemical reaction processes, and its reaction tanks usually have the following characteristics: 

1. Variable media: The reaction tank may contain a mixture of ethanol in the gas phase, liquid phase, or even solid phase. 

2. High temperature and high pressure: Some reaction processes need to be carried out under high temperature and high pressure. 

3. Corrosiveness: Ethanol and its related chemicals may be corrosive to the materials of the measuring equipment. 

4. Complex environment: The reaction tank may be full of steam, foam, and the dielectric constant of the medium varies greatly.

Radar level meter measures the material level by emitting microwave signals and receiving the signals reflected from the surface of the material. 

Due to the use of microwave bands, this instrument has good measurement effects on almost all kinds of media such as liquids, pastes, and solids. Analysis of the applicability of radar level meter in ethanol production reactor: 

1. High accuracy: It can provide high-precision level measurement in various complex environments. 

2. Non-contact measurement: Avoid direct contact with the medium, reduce corrosion and wear, and extend the service life of the equipment. 

3. Strong adaptability: It is not easily affected by temperature and pressure changes and is suitable for high temperature and high pressure environments. 

4. Easy to install and maintain: The installation of radar level meter is usually simple and the maintenance cost is low.

In an ethanol production enterprise, in order to ensure accurate monitoring of materials in the reaction tank, a high-frequency radar level meter was selected for measurement. 

The diameter of the reaction tank is 3 meters, the operating temperature can reach 200℃, and the pressure is 1MPa. 

The radar level meter used has the ability to work under high temperature and high pressure, and its material can resist the corrosion of ethanol. 

During installation, in order to optimize the reflection of the signal, a suitable installation angle was selected, and the radar antenna was aligned with the center of the reaction tank. 

During the debugging stage, the influence of steam and foam in the tank on the measurement was successfully suppressed by adjusting the sensitivity and signal processing parameters of the radar level meter. 

After six months of continuous operation, the radar level meter showed extremely high stability and accuracy, which fully met the production needs. 

Through the analysis of the characteristics of the ethanol production reaction tank and the display of actual measurement cases, it can be concluded that the radar level meter has significant advantages in the level measurement of the ethanol production reaction tank.
