Analysis of the key points in choosing a radar level meter for large floating roof tanks

As the situation changes and countries’ demand for oil continues to increase, increasing crude oil reserves is on the agenda. The number of large floating roof tanks used to store crude oil is also increasing and the level of data in the tanks is becoming an important basis for production management in the reserve depots.

Depending on the characteristics of the large floating roof tank and the characteristics of the crude oil, an array antenna with a guided wave tube is most suitable. The radar level meter with a waveguide array antenna can pass directly through the floating tray and measure the crude oil in the tank. In this way, the above problem is not only solved but also the measurement is stable and the data is accurate.

We already know what kind of radar level meter to choose for large floating roof tanks. So, how should the supply voltage be selected?

For radar level meters used in crude oil storage, it is best to choose a 220V AC power supply. Crude oil reservoirs cannot be said to be large, but they are of a certain size. In this case, signal cables of more than 1km inevitably exist and excessive line voltage drops are inevitable. Therefore, it is more beneficial for the radar level meter to choose a 220V AC power supply for normal operation.

The above tells us that the choice of radar level meter should not only depend on the characteristics of the medium, and the environment inside and outside the tank, but also on the structure and range of the storage tank, and so on.
