In thermal power plants, coal mills are important auxiliary equipment, and the level measurement of their oil tanks is directly related to the normal operation of the equipment and the continuity of production. 

Therefore, choosing the right level measurement technology is crucial to ensure the stable operation of coal mills.

Overview of the characteristics of coal mill oil tank: 

1. High temperature environment: The coal mill will generate a lot of heat during operation, resulting in a high ambient temperature, which puts forward requirements for the high temperature resistance of the level meter. 

2. Dust pollution: The coal mill will generate dust such as coal powder during operation, which may adhere to the level meter and affect the measurement accuracy. 

3. Corrosive media: The oil in the oil tank may contain corrosive substances, which requires the level meter to have good corrosion resistance. 

4. High safety requirements: Because it involves fuel oil, the measurement of the coal mill oil layer needs to meet certain explosion-proof standards.

In a thermal power plant, in order to improve the measurement accuracy and reliability of the oil tank level of the coal mill, it was decided to upgrade and transform it with a radar level meter. 

The following is a specific analysis of the case: After comprehensive consideration, a radar level meter suitable for high temperature, dusty environment and with certain corrosion resistance was selected. 

The level meter uses high-frequency radar waves for measurement, can work stably in dust and steam environments, and is not affected by changes in medium color, density, and dielectric constant. 

During the installation process, special attention was paid to prevent the radar waves from being blocked by the structural parts inside the oil tank to ensure the accuracy of the measurement. At the same time, considering safety factors, all installation work was completed in a power-off state and operated by professional technicians. 

By comparing the test with other existing level meters, it was found that the measurement results of the radar level meter were more accurate and stable. 

Even in high temperature and dusty environments, the radar level meter can provide reliable data, greatly improving the monitoring level of the coal mill oil tank level.

Since the radar level meter adopts non-contact measurement method, it is almost unaffected by the medium, so the maintenance workload is greatly reduced. 

In addition, accurate liquid level monitoring data also provides strong support for the economic operation of the coal mill, avoiding equipment shutdown caused by abnormal liquid level, thus bringing significant economic benefits to the enterprise.
