A silage tank is a kind of large storage equipment for storing silage, which is widely used in animal husbandry. Silage is a kind of feed made by picking, chopping, and compacting grass, corn, and other green plants at the peak of their growth and development, after natural fermentation, acidification, and drying.
Level measurement of silage tanks is an important issue, and in order to solve this problem, radar level meters have come into being.
This paper will introduce the characteristics of silage tanks and provide two actual measurement cases to show the application of radar level meters in silage tank level measurement.
Silage tanks are a special type of storage equipment with the following characteristics: Large capacity: silage tanks usually have a large capacity and can store hundreds of tons of silage.
Height: Silage tanks are usually high, with a height of more than 10 meters. Not easy to clean: the internal structure of silage tanks is complex and not easy to clean, so it is necessary to use contactless level measurement equipment.
Below are two examples of actual measurements to demonstrate the use of radar level meters in silage tank level measurement. Case 1: Farm Silage Tanks A large farm in North America uses a set of silage tanks for silage storage, but traditional level measurement equipment is difficult to accurately measure the silage level.
For this reason, the farm uses radar level meters for level measurement.
The radar level meter uses advanced microwave signal technology to penetrate the silage and accurately measure the level height.
The instrument has a high degree of anti-interference, stability, and reliability, and can accurately read the level height and changes in a strongly disturbed environment, greatly improving the farm’s storage efficiency and output quality.
Case 2: Livestock Farm Silage Tanks A livestock farm located in Europe encountered level monitoring problems during silage storage. The internal structure of their silage tanks is complex and not easy to clean, and the height of the silage tanks is also relatively high, making it difficult for traditional level measurement equipment to really measure the level of silage.
However, after trying the radar level meter, they found that it can accurately, stably, and reliably measure the level height in the silage tank.
The radar level meter can feedback level data in real-time according to the change of the level, and can automatically adapt to different particle sizes and shapes and different temperature statuses of the materials in the storage tanks, which effectively solves the level monitoring problem and improves their storage efficiency and quality.
The large capacity, height, and difficulty of cleaning silage tanks can be overcome by radar level meters. It can provide stable, accurate, and reliable level data to help livestock farms and farms to monitor the level height as well as the storage process and improve the storage efficiency and product quality.
Through the demonstration of two actual measurement cases, we can see the application effect of radar level meters in silage tank storage.
