What should be considered when choosing a level meter for a nuclear power plant? - Just Measure it

What should be considered when choosing a level meter for a nuclear power plant?

Level meters are used in wastewater treatment plants to measure wastewater. Power plants are used to measure raw materials for power generation. What media are measured in nuclear power plants? What are the considerations for selecting a level meter in a nuclear power plant?

A larger number of process media in nuclear power plants are demineralized water. However, some articles also mention boric acid, boron water, seawater, etc.

For such media, there are two main characteristics worth noting, the first is the corrosiveness; the second is the dielectric constant.

For example, in the important auxiliary system of a nuclear power plant, the circulating water filtration system, the medium for this system measurement is mainly seawater. Seawater is highly corrosive and there is steam and foam generated during the measurement process.

Therefore, for different media in nuclear power plants, we have to choose the right level meter, for example, for low dielectric constant level measurement, you can choose an ultrasonic level meter or guided wave radar level meter. For corrosive liquid media, high-frequency radar level meters can be considered.

In nuclear power plants, the medium to be measured is a factor that must be considered when selecting a level meter. In addition, the working environment also needs to be considered.

According to the people concerned, more liquid level measurement occasions in nuclear power plants are in high-temperature environments. Some of the measurement environments have a certain amount of radiation, while others have mechanical components.

For such a complex and changing working environment, all that needs to be done is to select the right level meter for the specific problem, according to the different measuring media and working characteristics.

For level measurement in some ordinary pits in nuclear power plants, where the requirements are not very high, a cheaper ultrasonic level meter can be chosen. For some liquid level measurements under high-temperature conditions, radar level meters can be considered, because radar level meters are almost independent of temperature and pressure.

Nuclear power plant level meter selection, and other plant level meter selection, are the same, according to the measured medium, working conditions, and range to determine, this is a general rule.
