The application of several liquid level meters in the ammonia desulfurization process - Just Measure it

The application of several liquid level meters in the ammonia desulfurization process

The deepening of the energy saving and emission reduction policy has made relevant enterprises start to focus on the investment and construction of the flue gas desulphurization process, and naturally, the ammonia desulphurization process is widely used by many enterprises.

In this process, many enterprises have chosen different level meters for level measurement. Today, we briefly analyze the application of several level meters in the ammonia desulphurization process.

Before analysis, let’s get to know the ammonia desulphurization process. The ammonia desulphurization process involves mixing and reacting ammonia with sintered flue gas in an absorption tower to produce ammonium sulphite, which reacts with air in an oxidation reaction to produce ammonium sulphate liquid, which is then made into ammonium sulphate (chemical fertilizer) through a series of processes such as crystallization, dehydration, and filtration.

The ammonia desulphurization process has been understood clearly. Next, look at the application of several level meters. The main liquid level measurement methods commonly used in this process are radar level meters, ultrasonic level meters and differential pressure level meters.

The differential pressure level meter is used to derive the liquid level through the static pressure difference. It is more suitable for measuring media with little change in density. However, if it is used in the ammonia desulphurization process, it is important to note that its contact properties can easily be corroded or have scaled.

Ultrasonic level measurement is based on the time travel method, also known as echo ranging, which is a non-contact measurement method. It is suitable for measuring corrosive liquids in the ammonia desulphurization process but is not recommended for installation in closed vessels where it is susceptible to foam, steam, and dust.

The radar level meter is based on the same measuring principle as the ultrasonic level meter and is also a non-contact measuring method. In the ammonia desulphurization process, it is suitable for measuring media with severe fouling or hanging, but special protection of the antenna should be taken into account if necessary.

In the ammonia desulphurization process, there is a wide range of equipment and instruments used. To ensure the smooth operation of the system and to improve economic efficiency, all equipment and instruments need to be properly selected, installed and regularly inspected and maintained.
