Radar level meter for xylene measurement

Xylene is an organic compound with the molecular formula C8H10, a colorless and transparent liquid with the special odor of aromatic hydrocarbons. It is the product of the substitution of two hydrogens on the benzene ring by methyl groups, and there are three isomers: o-xylene, m-xylene, and p-xylene. 

It is a mixture of 45% to 70% of m-xylene, 15% to 25% of p-xylene, and 10% to 15% of o-xylene isomers. It flows easily and can be miscible with anhydrous ethanol, ether, and many other organic solvents. In industry, xylene refers to the mixture of the above isomers. 

Xylene has a pungent odor, is flammable, can be mixed with ethanol, chloroform, or ether at will, is insoluble in water, and has a boiling point of 137-140°C. Xylene is a low-toxic chemical, widely used as a solvent in paint, resin, dyestuff, ink, and other industries, and as a synthetic monomer or solvent in medicine, explosives, pesticides, and other industries. 

It can also be used as a component of high-octane gasoline and is an important raw material for organic chemicals. It can also be used to remove asphalt from bodywork and is mainly used in hospital pathology departments for transparency and dewaxing of tissues and sections.

A company in Zhejiang installed and used our two radar level meters, model RD902, and RD906, to measure xylene, the site environment is about 90 degrees, slightly negative pressure, and negative 1 kg or so. After a period of use, the radar level meter was inaccurate and fluctuated greatly. 

Our after-sales engineer went to the site to check, by taking down the radar level meter to observe, there was a heating coil directly below the radar, which belonged to the site process problem, and some radar showed a straight line, after analysis the after-sales engineer thought that the circuit board was damaged. 

The solution proposed by the after-sales engineer is that the coil problem and the site consultation, because after all is the site process problems, can only be solved by the site itself, and the radar level meter circuit board bad problem, need to timely return to the factory repair, through the adjustment problem is solved.

The above case shows that the site environment has an important influence on whether the radar level meter can be measured accurately, so users must make their specific working conditions and manufacturers clear when purchasing radar level meters. In addition, users should also be reminded to choose a large manufacturer, choose a reliable brand, when the radar level meter has any problems that can be guaranteed.
