Radar level transmitter measuring coal ash slag - Just Measure it

Radar level transmitter measuring coal ash slag

A company installed one of our high-frequency radar level meters, model RD903, with purge, range 20m, the medium is coal ash slag. The customer responded that the radar level meter did not measure the distance and the value did not change. Our after-sales engineer went to the site and found that the reason for this problem was that there was a lot of dust in the tank and the positive pressure, the dust blocked the flapper and the Teflon tip, so the signal was very small. Our after-sales engineer replaced the dust-proof horn port and movement, the signal was immediately restored and the instrument was ready for normal use.

It is worth mentioning that the RD903 is one of our high-frequency radar level meters. The advantages of this series of meters include non-contact radar, no wear, and tear, and no contamination. The small size of the antenna makes it easy to install.

Shorter wavelengths for better reflection on inclined solid surfaces. Smaller measurement blind spot, which gives good results even for small tanks. Virtually unaffected by corrosion, slight foaming.

Virtually unaffected by water vapor, temperature, and pressure variations in the atmosphere. Severe dusty environments do not affect electromagnetic wave operation. The high signal-to-noise ratio for better performance even in fluctuating conditions.

We can see from this case that in dusty working conditions it is important to do a good job of dust proofing the radar level meter.
