Two ways to measure liquefied gas with radar level meter

The radar level meter is a measuring instrument based on the time travel principle. The radar wave works at the speed of light and the running time can be converted into a level signal by electronic components.

High-frequency pulses are emitted and conducted along the cable and rod. When the pulse meets the material surface, it will be reflected back from inside the surface and the distance signal will be converted into a level signal.

At present, there are two main methods to measure liquefied gas with a radar level meter, and today I will briefly introduce them to you.

One way is to use a bypass tube and low-frequency radar for measurement, but because this method requires high production of bypass tubes, it is easy to use poorly due to the unsatisfactory quality of bypass tubes. In some spherical tank applications with large ranges, because the bypass tube is too long and easily deformed, it will make the radar level meter unable to measure. Therefore, the measurement method of low-frequency radar level meter + bypass tube has rarely been successful.

The second one is to use the good emission characteristics of high-frequency radar for a low dielectric constant medium to measure the liquid level of liquefied gas directly, which can directly measure the medium with a dielectric constant as low as 1.5 and can meet the measurement of liquefied gas, which can choose the installation position on the top of the spherical tank and the hole is directly opened on the top of the tank.

To ensure easy maintenance, it is generally necessary to install a ball valve on the installation riser (Dn>150 is recommended) for disassembly and maintenance at any time, or it can be installed on a thicker by-pass pipe (diameter >6~10) or more.

Among liquid media level measurements, liquefied gas has relatively complicated working conditions, so you need to consult professionals in detail when selecting and installing radar level meters.

They will give reasonable and professional advice based on years of relevant experience in order to help you solve the problem better.
