The disadvantage of the ultrasonic flow meter - Just Measure it

The disadvantage of the ultrasonic flow meter

Ultrasonic flow meters are divided into mono and multi-channel. If it is mono, the price is relatively cheap, but the accuracy is not high.

This is the disadvantage of the ultrasonic flow meter:

(1) The temperature measurement range of the ultrasonic flowmeter is not high, and generally, it can only measure the fluid whose temperature is lower than 200℃.

(2) Poor anti-interference ability. It is susceptible to the interference of bubbles, fouling, pumps, and other sound sources mixed with ultrasonic noise, which affects the measurement accuracy.

(3) The straight pipe section has strict requirements, with 20D in the front and 5D in the back. Otherwise, the dispersion is poor and the measurement accuracy is low.

(4) Uncertainty of installation will bring large errors to flow measurement.

(5) The fouling of the measuring pipeline will seriously affect the accuracy of the measurement and bring about significant measurement errors. Even when it is severe, the meter has no flow display.

(6) The reliability and accuracy level is not high (generally 1.5 to 2.5 grades), and the repeatability is poor.

(7) Short service life (generally accuracy can only be guaranteed for one year).

(8) Ultrasonic flowmeter determines the volume flow by measuring the fluid velocity, and the mass flow of the liquid should be measured. The mass flow measured by the meter is obtained by multiplying the volume flow by the artificially set density;

When the temperature of the fluid changes, the density of the fluid changes. If the density value is artificially set, the accuracy of the mass flow cannot be guaranteed. Only when the fluid velocity is measured and the fluid density is measured, can the true mass flow value be obtained through calculation.
