Turbine flow meter Check before installation - Just Measure it

Turbine flow meter Check before installation

In order to ensure the best performance during use, users should pay attention to the inspection requirements before installation:

(1) Before installing the turbine flowmeter, the pipeline must be cleaned. When the measured medium is not clean, a filter must be added. Otherwise, the turbine and bearing are easily stuck or damaged, which will directly affect the flow measurement performance.

(2) Before installation, use the impeller blowing method of the inlet to the flow sensor to make it rotate quickly and judge its performance qualitatively. If it is found that it does not turn, it must be returned for repair, and it is not allowed to disassemble and assemble by users, so as not to affect the measurement performance.

(3) When installing the turbine flowmeter, check the level of the front and rear pipe flanges, otherwise, the pipe stress will have a great influence on the flowmeter.

(4) The flow sensor can be installed in a parallel or vertical position. When installing vertically, it should be installed on a pipeline with an upward flow direction to ensure that the pipeline is filled with fluid. The fluid flow direction should be consistent with the flow mark on the shell. The pipeline of the sensor should be installed concentrically with the upstream and downstream straight pipe sections. The gasket used for the connection and sealing shall not extend into the inner cavity of the pipe. The upstream and downstream sides should have straight pipe sections with the same nominal diameter as the flow sensor and no less than 10DN and 5DN in length respectively. The inner wall should be smooth and clean, and there should be no obvious dents, fouling, and peeling defects, otherwise it should be on the upstream side. Install the rectifier.

(5) The flow sensor is a precision mechanical instrument. The impeller speed is very high, and the sudden change of the flow rate can easily damage the impeller. Therefore, the valve that regulates the flow should be installed in the downstream direction of the sensor, and the flow should be adjusted slowly to prevent the occurrence of shock.

(6) Foreign matter entering the pipeline will seriously damage the turbine flowmeter. When it is expected that there may be foreign substances in the gas flow that may damage the flowmeter, it is recommended to install a filter. The size of the filter screen should have the smallest pressure drop at the maximum flow rate, and there should be no excessive flow distortion after installation. Install a dry or separate filter upstream of the inlet pipe of the flowmeter to better protect the flowmeter. It is recommended to monitor the differential pressure at both ends of the filter to ensure that the filter is in good working conditions and to prevent flow distortion. When the fluid contains impurities, a filter should be installed. The number of filter meshes depends on the fluid impurities, generally 20-60 mesh. When free gas is mixed in the fluid, a getter should be installed. The entire piping system should be well sealed. When the liquid turbine flowmeter is used to measure the liquid flow, when there is gas in the metering liquid, especially when it is used for trade measurement, it cannot be ignored, so an air separator should be set to prevent this from happening.

(7) The meter coefficient K of the flow sensor is sensitive to the change of fluid viscosity, and it is calibrated with water before leaving the factory. When measuring fluids with a viscosity greater than 3MPa·s, the flow measurement range and meter coefficients may change. In order to ensure the accuracy of measurement, the medium must be indicated when ordering.

(8) The user should fully understand the corrosion of the measured medium, and prevent the sensor from being corroded.

(9) There should be no strong external magnetic field interference and strong mechanical vibration around the flowmeter. The sensor should be far away from the external electric field and magnetic field, and effective shielding measures should be taken when necessary to avoid external interference. Keep the flow meter away from vibration sources such as pumps and refrigerators as much as possible.

(10) When installing outdoors, there should be a cover on the upper part to prevent rainwater and hot sun from affecting the service life of the flowmeter.

(11) When carrying out the pipeline pressure test, the turbine flowmeter shall not be installed on the pipeline.
